Chronic Wasting Disease Test ResultsThank you for your interest in the chronic wasting disease surveillance effort. This site allows you to track the test results of all deer that have been, or are being, tested around the state for chronic wasting disease. CWD Prevalence in WisconsinFrom 2002 to 2007, monitoring of disease prevalence within the CWD management zone areas that have the highest intensity of CWD had shown little change in prevalence rates although some models suggested it was likely increasing. In 2008, however, estimates of prevalence in the core area of infection in southwest Wisconsin were higher for yearling and adult males and females. This increase was especially evident in adult males where prevalence estimates were just over 15% compared to the 10% of previous years. To determine what this means regarding overall disease progression and the efficacy of our control efforts, we will need several more years of data and further analyses. Nonetheless, this suggests that the same pattern of increasing intensity of disease may be occurring in Wisconsin as has been documented in areas of the western US where CWD has been intensely monitored over many years. Test ResultsBy clicking on a link below, you will go to the CWD test result database. The database will be updated as new test results are received by the Department of Natural Resources, from the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and other labs. If you do not see complete results for a deer, county, or deer management zone, please be patient. Tests results are added as they become available. We release information on negative test results within a day after they are received. We release information on positive test results as soon as they are confirmed and we have contacted the hunter.
