Amery-Dresser State Trail
This county-operated, 14-mile trail runs from Amery nearly all the way to Dresser in Polk County. Built on a former railroad corridor, the trail begins in Amery at Harriman Avenue, travels through the communities of Deronda, Wanderoos and Nye, ending about one mile from Dresser at 90th Avenue.

The Amery-Dresser State Trail is currently open to foot travel.

The trail passes through maple and oak forests, wetlands, prairies and farmlands, and past many picturesque lakes. The trail crosses between the North Twin and South Twin lakes in Amery, skirts the south end of Bear Trap Lake and runs along Round, Horse and Lotus lakes near the western end.
Camping and hiking opportunites are available nearby at Interstate State Park, and the 98-mile Gandy Dancer State Trail begins in St. Croix Falls.
Trail Uses
The Amery-Dresser State Trail has been brushed and graded. The surface is a combination of grass, ballast, and gravel and the trail is presently open for foot travel including walking and snowshoeing.
The trail is not maintained for cross-country skiing, but skiers may use the ungroomed trail. Eventually the trail will be developed for bicycling.
ATVs, snowmobiles and other motorized vehicles are prohibited on the Amery-Dresser State Trail. The Cattail State Trail, which begins in Amery just east of Highway 46 at Center Street, is open to motorized vehicles.
How to Get There
The Amery-Dresser State Trail is near U.S. Highway 8 and Highway 35 in northwest Wisconsin near St. Croix Falls and the Minnesota border. Traveling north from Interstate 94 or south from U.S. Highway 8 , take Highway 46 into Amery or Highway 65 to Wanderoos. Parking is available along city streets in both communities. In Amery the trail begins just west of Highway 46 at Harriman Avenue. There is also a public parking lot near the trail in Amery just east of Harriman Avenue.
From Dresser, take County Higway F, turn south on County Highway MM and then east on 90th Avenue to the beginning of the trail near Lotus Lake. Parking is available along city streets in Dresser. There is also a parking lot at Lotus Lake County Park, just east of the trail along 90th Avenue.
