Badger State Trail Current ConditionsConditions as of Monday, November 23, 2009: The Badger State Trail is open for walking and bicycling from the Illinois border to Purcell Road in Fitchburg. We request that the trail not be used by bicyclists or pedestrians whenever the surface is soft enough to leave ruts and tracks. For the most up to date conditions please call the Green County Trail Information Line, (608) 527-2910. SnowmobilesSnowmobiling is allowed from Sun Valley Parkway (near Paoli) all the way south to the Illinois state line. In Dane County The trail is open when there is over six inches of snow, or when the trail has a groomed base. In Green County the trail is open when there is over 4 inches of snow, or when the trail has a groomed base. Snowmobiles are not permitted in the Stewart Tunnel, or between Monroe and Monticello when that area is open for ATV's. All Terrain VehiclesAll Terrain Vehicles (ATV's) are allowed under the following conditions:
UTV's or "Side-by-side ATV's" are not permitted on the Badger State Trail. PetsPet owners, please be sure to have your pet on a leash, 8 feet or shorter, at all times. You must pick up after your pet. More InformationState trail passes are required for bicyclists 16 years and older. Passes may be purchased at self-registration boxes along the trail, at local vendors, or online.
