State Parks, Forests, and other DNR lands
Rules Changed
A number of revisions to chapter NR 45 of the Administrative Code, relating
to use of state parks, forests, and trails, were adopted recently.
The changes include:
- Increasing the price of an annual state
trail pass from $15 to $20
- Defining and setting rules for tepees and yurts on DNR land.
- Allowing consumption of alcoholic beverages in the spring on certain DNR
lands.
- Banning the use of electric personal assistive mobility devices (“Segways”
) on department lands unless authorized in the property’s master
plan or posted open for their use.
- Requiring a state park sticker at Old Veterans Lake in the Peshtigo
River State Forest.
- Establishing a new group camp area at the Turtle Flambeau Scenic Waters
Area requiring a camping permit, reservation, and fee.
- Eliminating camping fee differences based on time of year.
- Adding more properties to the list of those charging an additional
$3 per night due to local market conditions.
- Allowing reservation of picnic areas, shelters, auditoriums, amphitheaters,
tepees and yurts up to 11 months in advance.
- Clarifying many existing rules.
