Interpretive Program Fees

The Wisconsin State Parks System charges fees for education/interpretation programs requested by groups such as:

• Pre K - grade 12 classes
• Youth-serving organizations and centers
• Businesses providing camps or programs for youth
• Civic groups (adult, youth, and mixed ages)
• Institutions and businesses providing workshops or courses for adult personal enrichment or professional development
• Businesses providing for-profit tours of state park properties (tour bus companies, etc.)

The fees apply to programs presented by staff, designated volunteers and guest presenters.

On-site programs

For on-site requested programs for people of all ages, fees are charged at the following rates:

*For fee purposes, teachers/leaders and other chaperones are not counted as participants, because they are needed to help with their groups.

Additional fees

The fee may be increased to cover the cost of the following:

• Materials the participants use in making something to take home (e.g., birdhouse)
• Resources or other take-home items provided to participants (e.g., teacher curriculum guides, handouts)
• Programs extending beyond 6 hours in length
• Meals or snacks that are provided as part of the program
• Guest presenter stipends
• Equipment rental (canoes, snowshoes, skis, etc.)

Off-site programs

Basic fees for off-site programs are the same as for on-site programs. Staff will charge for round-trip mileage at the current state rate. They may also charge an optional additional fee of up to $25 for a program that requires above-average preparation time, loading/unloading of equipment, etc.

Options for groups that cannot afford the fees

• Scholarships or sponsorships may be available through the park's friends organization, other organizations, or local businesses.
• There may be opportunities to participate in service projects in lieu of fees.
• Groups may submit a written request to the property manager or educator for waiver of fees.

Payment

Unless other arrangements have been approved by the property manager or educator, groups must pay in advance.
