Endangered & Threatened Invertebrates of Wisconsin Cover

In Wisconsin there are currently 41 invertebrate species that are endangered or threatened with extinction. Changes to the landscape as a result of burgeoning human occupation have reduced the ability of many species to weather fluctuations in populations. Therefore, the protection of the remaining habitat patches are extremely important to secure the future of the species in Wisconsin.

The Bureau of Endangered Resources' publication, The Endangered and Threatened Invertebrates of Wisconsin, is a reference tool for natural resources managers, regional planning commissions, private landowners, land preservation organizations, and government agencies involved with natural resource issues.

This guide serves to:
  • help with planning and decision making where protection of endangered and threatened species is a concern,
  • provide species descriptions,
  • identify species habitats,
  • include life history information,
  • provide accompanying photographs to help the user of this guide to separate the listed species from similar species, and much more.
