You can obtain a WI DNR Customer ID Number 7AM to 10PM by calling the WI DNR Customer Service at 1-888-936-7463 or you can visit a WI DNR Service Center during their regular scheduled hours. For WI DNR Service Center hours and locations go to dnr.wi.gov/org/caer/cs/ServiceCenter.. Thank you. Recreational Safety EducationBecause education is one of the most important tools we have in reducing injuries, deaths, and accidents, the Department of Natural Resources sponsors recreational safety education classes to educate the public on how to be safe, knowledgeable, and responsible in their recreational pursuits. The Law Enforcement safety education program includes introductory classes on boating, snowmobile, ATV, hunter, and bowhunter education. Although the primary purpose of these safety education classes is to teach and train beginners to be safe and knowledgeable in these various forms of recreation, everyone is encouraged to attend. Classes are taught by Conservation Wardens and certified volunteer instructors. Records and statistics are gathered and maintained from classes for use in state and federal reporting, evaluation of course content and effectiveness, and issuance of safety certificates. Persons successfully completing a DNR sponsored/recognized safety education course receive a safety education certificate which may be required by this or other states to legally participate in certain recreational activities. See individual recreational safety topics for a description of age/educational requirements and course content. Now is The Time to Get Enrolled Into Hunter Education, Don't Wait! There are two times during the year when hunter education courses are offered the most often; mid spring to early summer and then late summer to early fall. If a person waits to find the perfect course to attend they may find themselves not getting into one that was available earlier in the year. The majority of our volunteer instructors that teach these courses are hunters themselves, therefore they wish to be out hunting in the fall enjoying what they love so much. Check our "Upcoming Courses" page on the DNR Website at http://dnr.wi.gov/org/es/enforcement/safety/upcoming.htm to find a course near you. Courses are posted as soon as we are notified by our volunteers. Plan now to get into a course by checking this site often and enrolling in the first course you can get into.
