Havenwoods State Forest, Milwaukee, (414) 527-0232 or e-mail - Preschool Storytime: Do Touch! It’s time to wake up your fingers! Touch things from nature that are soft, prickly, rough, and slippery. This program is for preschoolers, ages 3-5, and their parents, grandparents, or other adult, not for day care centers or organizations. 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Kettle Moraine State Forest--Northern Unit, Campbellsport, (920) 533-8322 or e-mail - Nature Storytime: Birds at My Feeder. Even on the coldest days of winter, a bird feeder can be flurry of activity. Discover which birds may visit your feeder and what they like to eat. This hour of nature fun awaits 3 to 6-year-olds with accompanying adults. Ice Age Visitor Center. 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Havenwoods State Forest, Milwaukee, (414) 527-0232 or e-mail - Family Hike: Winter Scavenger Hunt. Dress for the weather as we go in search of wild things. We’ll check out what’s moving around once the cold weather comes in. Spend an hour on a family-friendly hike through Havenwoods. We’ll use magnifiers, binoculars, and super-duper outdoor lookers to spend the morning in nature. 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Richard Bong State Recreation Area, Kansasville, (262) 878-5600 - Holiday Greenery. Put some green in your holidays as you learn to create beautiful evergreen sprays or swags using natural materials. All materials will be provided. Space is limited; please call to pre-register and pre-pay the $10 fee. Sponsored by Bong Naturalist Association. Visitor Center. 8:30-10 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. - noon. (You may only register for one session).

Havenwoods State Forest, Milwaukee, (414) 527-0232 or e-mail - Discovery Saturday: Flight Experiments. Spend time inside doing some flight experiments. You can make paper airplanes and film canister parachutes to see how well different designs fly through the air. These activities are for everyone! Just drop in the building anytime between 9 a.m. and noon to participate in the fun.
Kettle Moraine State Forest--Northern Unit, Campbellsport, (920) 533-8322 or e-mail - Exploring Nature: Nature Crafts. Let your creativity flow! Using supplies found in nature, we will create a variety of crafts including flower magnets, nature candles and evergreen wrapping paper. To ensure plenty of supplies, call by December 10 to register. This program is best for families/groups with children between the ages of 6 and 12 years. Ice Age Visitor Center. 9:30-11:30 a.m.

- Look! Look Again! Nature Storytime. Sometimes it takes a double look to see an animal standing right in front of us. Uncover how creatures of all kinds use camouflage to survive. This hour of nature fun awaits 3 to 6-year-olds with accompanying adults. Ice Age Visitor Center. 9:30-10:30 a.m.
- Night Hike: Winter Solstice. Gather around the fire as we share some traditions of the longest night of the year - December 21. We will then travel through the dark woods to discover what animals are awake and braving the cold of a winter night. This program is best for families with children over the age of 6 years. Sponsored by Kettle Moraine State Forest - Nothern Unit. Zillmer Trails. 7-8:30 p.m.

Drop in to make a variety of projects using natural items that can be found in your backyard. You and your family or youth group can drop in between 9 a.m. and noon to discover cool things about nature through hands-on activities, experiments, crafts, games, and picture books.

Richard Bong State Recreation Area, Kansasville, (262) 878-5600 - Celebrate The Solstice! Enjoy a natural celebration at this busy time of year. Learn how others have celebrated the return of the sun then hike and do some of your own celebrating. Dress to be outside. Amphitheater. 6:30-7:30 p.m.
