McMiller Sports Center offers new shooting range opportunitiesNews Release Published: November 6, 2009 by the Southeast Region Contact(s): Paul Sandgren, Superintendent Kettle Moraine State Forest-Southern Unit (262) 594-6204 EAGLE - The McMiller Sports Center offers a wide variety of opportunities for shooting sports enthusiasts. It is located on County Highway NN, approximately one-half mile west of Hwy 67 and south of the Village of Eagle in the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. The Department of Natural Resources owns the shooting range which is operated by a private vendor, Milford Hills Hunt Club. The facility provides:
The McMiller Sports Center includes a clubhouse with many supplies necessary for a productive and enjoyable outdoor experience at the range including ammunition, clay and paper targets, and hearing and eye protection. Users can also rent spotting scopes and gun rests. Food and beverages including hamburgers and chicken sandwiches, snacks, soda, and water are now available for purchase. The Milford Hills Hunt Club has achieved a five star rating from the National Shooting Sports Foundation. As the new operator, Milford Hills is committed to providing the same excellent customer service at McMiller as customers receive at the Milford Hills Hunt Club. Milford Hills has operated the range since mid-September 2009 and plans to expand the opportunities and services for all McMiller users. Potential improvements include the addition of a pro shop with shooter supplies; clothing, gun rental and gunsmith services; expanded food services; an archery range with 3-D targets; and rental of winter sports equipment. The Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest is a 22,000 acre property that offers a diversity of outdoor recreational activities including 150 miles of recreational trails, 325 campsites, three boat launches, two swimming beaches, picnic areas, and hunting and fishing opportunities.
