Wildlife Technician-AdvancedWe seek creative, service-oriented individuals to join a team of professional employees dedicated to protecting and enhancing our natural resources. We employ individuals who can communicate positively with a variety of customer groups. DutiesConduct population and user surveys. Implement the deer registration program. Meet with private landowners and answer questions. Coordinate development and maintenance activities for public use facilities in wildlife areas. Direct private contractors in developing and maintaining wildlife habitat on state properties. Plan, initiate, and monitor sharecropping programs on state lands. Participate in other Department functions including prescribed burns, law enforcement, and wildlife research. Required Technical Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesWildlife ecology management and renewable resource principles. Land and farm management. Soils and crop production. Wisconsin crops and their nutrient requirements. Surveying techniques and legal descriptions. Life histories and habitat requirements of major game species, waterfowl, upland game birds, and furbearers. Predator identification. Nuisance animals and abatement procedures. Operation and repair of small equipment. Heavy construction techniques related to roads, dikes, flowages, and parking lots. Special RequirementsMost positions will require a valid Wisconsin driver's license and some may require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
