Fisheries Technician Advanced

General Duties

Perform fisheries technician work.

Pond/Rearing Station

Oversee and provide direction in all aspects of fish rearing and harvest operations at a warm, cool, or cold water fish production facility.

Hatchery

Coordinate and oversee the daily operation of all fish egg incubation and fry and fingerling distribution. Compile all data necessary to generate hatchery production reports.

Treaty Assessment

Design, plan, and implement an angler harvest survey program in a large geographic area. Conduct lake and stream surveys to gather data on cool and warm water fish populations and their habitat.

Fisheries Management

Design and implement projects which may include habitat development and planning, conducting and interpreting analytical studies, and preparing or assisting in the preparation of technical publications and reports.

Required Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Identification and ecology of fishes, cold and warm water fish propagation, habitat needs, population manipulation practices, water quality sampling and analysis, and sampling equipment. Heavy equipment and maintenance procedures, general facilities and equipment repair, and development and construction techniques. Basic mathematics and mechanical principles.

Special Requirement

Most positions will require a valid Wisconsin's driver's license. Some may require a CDL (Commercial Driver's License).
