Waste Management Specialist

We seek creative, service-oriented individuals to join a team of professional employees dedicated to protecting and enhancing our natural resources. We employ individuals who can communicate positively with a variety of customer groups.

Duties

Investigate solid and hazardous waste facilities to maintain compliance with state regulations. Investigate complaints and prepare reports. Investigate soil, surface water, and groundwater contamination incidents and collect evidence and environmental samples to determine source. Recommend the licensing of solid and hazardous waste facilities. Provide technical assistance to site owners and operators.

Required Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Chemistry, biology, ecology, and the application of these principles in evaluating the impact of waste management on the environment. Geology, hydrogeology, and soil science. Soil and water conservation.

Desired Training

Graduation from a college or university with major courses in biological and ecological principles of environmental protection and environmental health.
