DutiesCollect air pollution and pollution control information through inspections, complaint investigations, and surveys. Determine impact of pollution sources by reviewing standards. Calculate emissions and interpret data. Review collection and surveillance reports and engineering reports, plans, and specifications for compliance with regulations and codes. Required Technical Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesTheories, principles, and practices of engineering pertinent to air pollution control; pollution source processes to identify elements likely to emit air contaminants; standard principles, procedures, and resource data required to perform independent analysis and estimate air quality pollutant concentrations. Desired TrainingBachelor's degree in chemical or environmental engineering (or some combination of the two) from an ABET-accredited program with course work or experience in air pollution detection and control or closely related areas, or a verified equivalent.
