Wildlife Biologist

Duties

Perform professional wildlife management duties. Develop and implement wildlife management programs using an integrated ecosystem management approach. Maintain partnerships with wildlife interest organizations; develop habitat improvement initiatives for public and private lands; oversee property management (acquisition, development and maintenance) activities for assigned properties; conduct and coordinate wildlife monitoring surveys; implement a public outreach and education program; assist with and promote outdoor skills and the future of hunting and trapping opportunities. Work in a team environment.

Required Technical Knowledge, Skills and Sbilities

Biological and ecological science principles; techniques and processes for surveying and modeling wildlife populations; techniques and processes for developing, restoring, and maintaining wildlife habitat; techniques, methods and processes for developing and maintaining public buildings and properties; teaching techniques and methods for outdoor skills and other outreach programs; rules and regulations affecting use of wildlife and public lands; basic personal computer skills; and effective communication skills.

Special Requirements

Most positions will require a valid Wisconsin driver's license.

Desired Training

Graduation from a college or university with major courses in the biological sciences with emphasis on wildlife management or wildlife biology or ecology.
