Feasibility and Outcomes Assessment Matrix - BackgroundThe Feasibility and Outcomes Matrix assessment is intended to be an internal document for voluntary program coordinators to complete. It was designed to provide management with relevant information to determine if a voluntary initiative should proceed and to assist in the development of an initiative. It reminds coordinators of issues to consider before and during implementation such as the desired environmental outcomes and other expected results, expected resource needs, schedule, public participation, and how the outcomes will be measured. It also reminds coordinators to consider how they want to achieve their environmental goal, whether through short, medium or long-term outcomes. Not all initiatives get environmental results through easily quantifiable actions. Some are through public education campaigns, policy changes, partnerships, or behavioral changes. This matrix helps one assess the feasibility of voluntary initiatives and their qualitative outcomes. Simply review the matrix questions and place answers below the questions. The questions are general and meant to stir thought about what is wanted or expected out of an initiative. Not all questions may be applicable to the voluntary initiative under review.
