Pollutants and Control Programs

There are many air pollutants that can directly affect your health through breathing such as air toxics, asbestos, ground-level ozone, and particulates. Other pollutants such as mercury can indirectly affect health because they can move through the food chain and enter our bodies when we eat fish. Still other pollutants, such as refrigerants used in air conditioning, destroy the earths protective ozone layer.
