For more details, please see Boiler MACT vacatur (8/14/2009) or view an e-mail from the Air Bureau Director on this topic. 8/19/2009 Revised Lead NAAQS: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently revised the primary and secondary lead NAAQS from 1.5 micrograms per cubic meter to 0.15 micrograms per cubic meter. The Department has developed a draft technical support document which shows that all areas of the state should be classified as in attainment of the revised standards. A public hearing will be held on this document on September 28, 2009 at 1:00pm. The Governor is required to make a recommendation for attainment and nonattainment areas to U.S. EPA by October 15, 2009. 8/12/09
New permit fees for non-major sources: The Bureau of Air Management has notified more than 400 facilities concerning changes to the Air Program fee structure for non-major sources of air emissions. Click here to learn more. 6/25/09 Clean diesel grants available: Wisconsin diesel fleet owners can now apply for clean diesel grants from the ARRA Wisconsin Clean Diesel Grant Program. The program is funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Applications must be postmarked by August 3, 2009. 6/9/09 MarchGov. Doyle's letter to EPA on ozone nonattainment - On March 12, 2009, Gov. FebruaryOzone Attainment Redesignation -- The six-county Milwaukee-Racine ozone nonattainment area attained the one-hour federal ozone standard two years ahead of the mandated 2007 deadline. The document redesignating these six counties (Kenosha, Racine, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha) to attainment for the one-hour federal ozone standard is found below. 02/17/2009 Nonattainment Designations Announced for PM2.5 - EPA has announced that Brown, Columbia, Dane, Milwaukee, Racine, and Waukesha counties fail to meet the federal National Ambient Air Quality Standard for particle pollution (PM2.5). 02/19/2009
