Reviewing Air Reporting System Data
Why Should I Review This Information?
The air emission inventory was moved from its own database to a database containing information for permits, compliance, and emission inventory. You should check your facility's emissions either by generating a new draft emission summary report or reviewing information in the ARS Rollup or ARS Calculator areas. Some of the changes may have occurred after you submitted your facility information. A good approach to review the information is to compare the 2008 year information to your 2007 submittal. If you do not have a copy of the 2007 submittal please request this information from Ralph.Patterson@wisconsin.gov .
How Do I Generate a Draft Emission Summary Report?
- In ARS choose “Summary Reports, Rollup, & Calculator’ on the left side navigation. You should see a page with the following buttons: View Submitted Report, View Final Report, Certification Form, Generate Draft Report, Rollup Data, and Calculator Details.
- Click on the 'Rollup Data' button. Choose the pollutants you
want shown on the report by clicking on the box in the show column. Note: You have the option of
adding or excluding pollutants if those pollutants are below reporting thresholds in Table 1 of NR 438.03, Wis. Adm. Code.
- Click on the 'Generate Draft Report' button. ARS generates a draft summary report of the data in our database at the time you generate this report. This summary report may look identical to the ‘Submitted Report’ or very different if DNR made changes to the original data.
Review Tips
- Compared to your last emission inventory submittal, does each pollutant emission facility total appear reasonable based on the activity at the facilty in 2008?
- Are there any pollutants above a reportable emission threshold that you did not expect to see? (You may want to obtain a list of air pollutants with reportable emission levels.)
- If the pollutant amount for a particular pollutant is too high or too low can you identify based on a prior year's submittal which device and process give emission results that are significantly different?
- If you identify significantly different device and process emissions can you determine what is causing the difference? Has the activity (i.e. throughput) significantly increased or decreased? Has the emission factor changed? Has the new database used a business rule that is responsible for the difference?
My Review Shows No Problems
If you complete your review and are satisfied, you are finished and you can
certify your emissions..
I Found Problems
If you find problems, please contact your regional air emission contact or email Ralph Patterson@wisconsin.gov. We need to know the facility identification number, the name of the company, and the device, process, and pollutant. Please do not certify your emissions until all of the problems are resolved.
